Wavertree Park

Liverpool parks (4). The land that comprises Wavertree Park was bought by an anonymous person in 1895. The ground was levelled and the lake filled in before it was handed over to the council for organised sports. As a result of the anonymous donation, it has been known as "The Mystery".

Apart for a couple of avenues of trees it is mainly green space. Home to football pitches, frequented by dog walkers and joggers and occasional host to cycling races. At its side is a running track, home to Liverpool Harriers, and Picton Sports Centre with it's new Olympic size swimming pool.
