Mumma Bear and Babies on the Pack Ice

Winter has arrived with a hiss and a roar since we've been in Kaktovik. Yes, we were supposed to leave yesterday morning, but have been pinned down by a storm; driving snow and strong winds. We didn't even get outdoors yesterday. A plane was scheduled to pick us up late this afternoon but couldn't get here from Barrow. It's looking better for tomorrow! Fingers crossed.

We got out for a while today and were able to find and photograph some bears. I thought I'd blip one that shows the vastness of the landscape.

I'll try to backblip an image for yesterday but not sure if I'll get another wifi link; the system has been down since yesterday lunchtime.
