Dunfermline Abbey
Just goes to show you shouldn't let the weather forecast put you off!!!!
We travelled through to Dunfermline today..... the forecast was very bad, with very strong winds and heavy rain at times. We did get the strong winds..... crossing the Forth Road Bridge was quite an experience...... but the expected rain did not materialise and we had a lovely sunshine filled day, although it was not warm and was very windy!
H had never been to Dunfermline, and we had been invited by our good friends to bring her through for the day. We had lunch with them then visited Andrew Carnegie's Birthplace, which is now a museum, and then went to the Abbey and Palace. We had a walk around and inside and saw the tomb of King Robert the Bruce. his heart is buried at Melrose Abbey though!
Had coffee and cake in the Abbots House, and then after another walk around the old part of town went home for dinner. J can be very amusing and we had a really great time with them.
Always good to see old friends.......
