Times Of My Life

A Very Windy Day

Today started at 6am, when Arlo came into our room to ask "What is that noise Granny"? It was blowing a gale outside, garden ornaments and plastic chairs were flying about, and torrential rain was battering on the windows.

It did clear up a bit later on in the day, but by that time we had abandoned all plans for outside activities, and had spent the morning playing Jenga and Dominoes, before going to the movies to see Boxtrolls. ( I had only seen an advert for this movie last week, but was really glad I had as the kids and I loved it, and it was visually beautiful, as was the soundtrack for the closing credits.) My only reservation about it was that I was surprised it got a U certificate: I'd have thought a PG was more appropriate as it was pretty dark sometimes, and quite menacing.

After that we met my brother Tom for coffee in a rather comfortable new place called Blend, before going to visit Mum for a little bit.

Back home, kids played while I made tea, and then Ida danced along with the two couples nominated for the 'Dance Off' in Strictly.

Since they went to bed, I've been plootering about on Facebook while G watched some telly.

I've got them until about 4pm tomorrow, so hope to get some nice weather to get out and about one last time before they go home. I promised them an adventure every day of their holiday, and so far have managed to live up to that!
