Winterton-On-Sea

After another late start having slept well we decided to walk from the Hay Barn today.

The walk was recommended to us by the owners and we saw lots of different landscapes and interesting things! The first part was over farmland and we discovered a derelict Church, a local chap passing by told us it had be derelict for over 300 years!!

We then walked through more farmland where it was obvious that Pheasants were being reared to be shot (I don't really agree with this) and we came across a fine herd of Cattle!

The farm tracks let us to a fabulously sandy beach where we saw a Seal bobbing around near the shore, I think the large Colony were about 2 miles further up the coast near the Horsey.

We then returned to Winterton on tracks through the Dunes, there are Adders here but we didn't see any the flora and fauna are amazing here.

Holy Trinity and All Saints Church at Winterton has a huge tower, local rumour has it that is is 'a herring and a half' taller than the tower at St Peter and St Paul, Cromer but in fact it is some 35ft shorter! The tower was in view for much of our walk and can been seen from miles around, along with many other Norfolk Churches!

At Winterton we had a late pub lunch and then walked back to the Barn. This walk was over 6 miles, it was at a much slower pace than is my 'normal' but I was very chuffed to have walked that far and didn't feel as bad as I did earlier in the week.......progress!

Ted's tail almost back to normal.......
