Civil Justice Centre....

One of my favourite modern buildings in Manchester is the Civil Justice Centre aka the Filing Cabinet. It's a clever building. The southern aspect has a huge brise soleil shading the offices and courts from the sun. The northern facade is a huge glass wall that traps heat and let's in the maximum amount of light that filters in from the north. And the rectangular blocks that stick out from the bulk of the building and give it its nickname, are individual court rooms. It's a stunning addition to Manchester's architectural lexicon.
