Memorial Cairn

We wandered down to the coast at Isle of Whithorn, via Wigton and Whithorn, both incredibly quiet.
It was good to be by the coast for a wee while; though it was breezy it was very mild, around 14C. Whithorn was a Christian settlement founded by St, Ninian, Scotland's first saint.
This cairn, however, is much more recent and reminded me of 'hippy' memorials we saw in San Francisco many years ago. Its the site of the old lifebaot station, and people have only been adding stones since 1997. Some appeared to be in memory of relatives but others were for pets. Interesting...
