Beauty and Brains
I don't suppose there can be many men of a certain age who would rather eat their supper behind the closed door of their study than with three young ladies in their prime.
It would seem that His Lordship is one of those men, obviously daunted by the gathering of female beauty and brains.
My eldest granddaughter and two of her university friends are through from Stirling to spend the weekend in Edinburgh, and although not staying here, (which might have frightened HL sufficiently to have him cloistered in his study for the duration), were invited to eat in the Dower House tonight.
With one young lady a Muslim, and another a vegetarian, I prayed to St Michael for guidance and he came good with ideas for some innocuous quiches which seemed to meet with dietary requirements.
I only hope no one turns up their nose at the accompanying broccoli, or the rhubarb crumble for afters.
If so, I can point them in the direction of a good chippy later.
Sometimes one has to be hard to survive in this world of specialised eaters.
Edit: the food slipped down well and not a morsel was left on any plates.
