Guinness time...

.. well, it was last night anyway.

This photo was taken outside the Bot, quite a famous pub in the University area of Belfast. It's a bit legendary with students, and instantly recognisable by its huge "Guinness Time" sign above the door. I'm sure I'll blip that someday. This place gets through a serious amount of Guinness :)

These days I usually walk on the other side of the street, mainly because if the bottles are out to be recycled the whole place stinks of stale beer. Some mornings I actually quite like the smell, with its strange sweetness. Other times, if my stomach isn't feeling so strong or I've got a bit of a hangover, it's enough to tip me over the edge!

Today was keg day, they were piled high along the pavement. It wasn't until I snapped this and looked closely that I realised all the detail on the rims: "Diageo", "Guinness" and the dates that they were manufactured. Some of these have been carrying Guinness from factory to pub for 16 years, and have the dents and scratches to prove it :)
