Tinseltown in the rain

It's clearly not Hollywood, but Leith in the rain doesn't sound nearly so romantic, and doesn't have a song about it.

Another unremarkable day at the chalk face. Chatting with one of the overseas students during a break (they need recovery time), she told me she had spent a wonderful day at the weekend in a beautiful place on the coast, called Portobello. She waxed lyrical about how beautiful the beach was, and how lucky we are to have such an idyllic seaside paradise. I asked where she was from, and it's one of the Greek islands. Now, much as I love Porty, I don't see there being much competition there. I consoled myself with some Greek olives at lunch time, and dreamed about escaping to the sunshine.
