Gymnastics

Today was a pretty laid-back day. The kids have half-days this week for Student-Led Conferences. I had a nice conference with Liam's teacher and tomorrow is conference day with Loren's teacher.

Tonight is gymnastics night. My Liam has enjoyed taking gymnastics since the age of 2. He will be turning 8 in a few short weeks and still has not tired of this sport. When he walked at only 9-months-old, everyone joked that he would someday be a gymnast. They said this because the month after he started walking, he was caught walking along the edges of church nursery's furniture! Most babies are pretty unsteady in the beginning stages of walking...and with him being premature I expected him to walk a little later. Not Liam, he was making a balance-beam out of preschool-sized couch backs in the nursery. I know with baseball here again, he'll have to take a 3-month 'pause' from most weeks of gymnastics and I also know he'll miss it. :(

As a safety rule, you can't use a flash at gymnastics so as not to throw-off a gymnast which could result in major injury! As necessary as this rule is, it still bugs me that I'll never get a great shot in the lighting of the gym. :)
