Bread and Butter Pudding
This afternoon I'm making bread and butter pudding for Mum - a good way to use up the extra milk in the fridge and some bread that might otherwise go stale.
I'm following the recipe in Mum's Radiation Cookery Book, which dates back to 1940 and came with her Regulo New World Cooker when she bought it. It has several Whole Dinner Menus - the different courses are cooked at the same time, on different shelves, to save energy. It contains some of my favourite recipes, such as the one for Raspberry Buns, and the instructions are a model of clarity and conciseness - no wasted words or hyperbole.
The recipes will be found attractive and ideally suited for general use. All have been selected by an expert in domestic cooking and have been subjected to careful trial under ordinary home conditions, and the most suitable Regulo settings and cooking times have been determined for each oven recipe. Cooking in a Regulo New World oven is an automatic operation; watching, or attention, on the part of the user is unnecessary. The same results can be repeated with certainty from day to day.
