Redpoll
Today no wind and so I opened the nets down in Iain's wood with some success. The highlight was probably this Redpoll, a small finch that breeds in Northern Europe and is usually seen high up in Alder trees. It is only when you see them up close that you can apprecate the subtlety of their plumage.
Today was also the last day of the national Golden Plover survey so off I duly trotted to Baleshare where there was a flock of nearly 400 of them. With a Peregrine and two White-tailed Eagles not far away it was a good day.
