A spot of drive-by blipping on the way to the cinema, to see Gone Girl. This is the time of year when films start to improve, in the run-up to the Oscars. Last Autumn was terrific and I enjoyed a really good movie almost each week. Gone Girl was very good - well-made, beautifully filmed, eerie soundtrack, excellent performances. But it wasn't great. The plot seemed a little implausible at times. Also, I read the novel on which it is based a year or two ago. I don't remember the ending of that clearly but the ending of the film was not what I was expecting. Is it my memory or have they changed that for the movie? Not that there is anything "wrong" with such a change.
