What do you do in the Bath?

We've had a lovely day soaking in Bath!

The weather has been unbelievable; warm & sunny & totally not what was forecasted or expected for October.

We chose to use the Park & Ride service into Bath, as we've found that usually if they offer this, the city centre will be a nightmare to navigate/park in.

Bath itself was more compact than we expected, but it's meant we could have a good walk round and see everything we wanted to see.

First stop was The Circus which was fantastic to see; the properties were amazing.

We then wandered through the town; so many little side streets to explore and tons of shops!
Pultenay Bridge was quaint, as was the weir on the river.

We saw the Roman Baths (from the outside as the queue was hideously long).

As it was such a nice day, we decided to take the riverside walk on the outskirts of town. Mr A found a marked wall under one of the bridges that showed the various heights of the river, complete with dates. The last swell was in the 60's.

As we passed the Locks, we spied something in them. It looked like a heron but we couldn't be sure as it was under the flow of water from the side of the lock wall.
Sure enough, as we drew nearer, it was a heron....having himself a little shower! Sadly we got a little too close for his liking so he scarpered!

Back in town, we found Sally Dunns bun shop; this is the oldest house in town and makes buns (not cake buns but baps/barms/tcakes depending on where you come from) to a secret old recipe. Again the queue was horrendous so we gave up and had a late lunch at Carluccio's instead!

On our way back to Bristol, we decided to visit the Clifton Suspension bridge. This is where it went a bit wrong! We ended up at the Severn Bridge (which is today's blip) but from there could see another bridge which I thought was Clifton. It wasn't. And we still have no idea what it was but it spanned the River Avon!

So, Clifton is on the list for tomorrow. If we can find it that is!
