Glen Banchor
Great day again and up here to hear the rutting stags in the sunshine. They all performed to order ; to the left two were roaring, but could not be seen and to the right a further three could be heard and the hinds were quite visible (to me, if not the lens)on the hillside. Sitting in the sun, at about 2000', under the wood, I watched several young stags racing across the boggy area, competing for a group of hinds that were being closely guarded by an older stag. They were all very alert and kept an eye on me, although I was about quarter of a mile away and downwind of them. Magnificent sight and sound at this time of year. The people of Newtonmore hear them from their homes at dusk and dawn.
