Vineyard Tour and Wine Tasting
So, this was my 60th birthday present from Matthew, Tina and Miya. A tour and tasting at a vineyard near you. We went to Chapel Down near Tenterden today to sample their wares.
And a very good afternoon it was too. Good weather for the time we were out in the vineyards and a very interesting, informative guide who knew his stuff and was humerous to boot. We learned a vast amount of information about English wine, still and sparkly before repairing to the shop for a tasting session.
That too was excellently done by the same guide, taking us through different wines in the order that they should be drunk. All the wines were white or rose and under the guide's expert tutilage we appreciated 6 wines and finished with a local cider. Of course we bought a bottle or two of the wines we liked the best. For further study and learning you understand.
So thank you all for an excellent present, very much enjoyed and appreciated. That's two "experiences" I've had for my birthday - the other one, in San Dieg, can be seen here.
After too much wine we stopped in Tenterden to dilute the vintage with tea and cakes before the drive home where we found a storm in progress which is only just coming to an end now almost 2 hours later.
The morning had been rushed as we went to the gym and only left ourselves 10 minutes for lunch before setting off for Tenterden. More relaxed now, but we've just packed ready to depart for North Yorkshire tomorrow for a week with Doreen, Barbara and David.
