Derelict Thursday - Hoult House
Apparently this is the most photographed house in New Zealand - or so I read somewhere once. The number of times it's been blipped would indicate that it is pretty well photographed anyway. I think I've done rather well, in four years of blipping and driving past this house almost weekly in that time, I had only blipped it twice.
But it seemed perfect for Derelict Thursday when I drove past it this afternoon.
The house was built in 1859 by Joseph Hoult senior for his oldest son (also Joseph). The house was sold out of the family 100 years ago in 1914.
People from other countries please note: This is 'old' european history for New Zealand - which was first colonised in the 1820's.
