Light and Shade

What a day! It's been a rollercoaster, and I've been busier at Mum and Dad's than on a normal day at work, getting things done for them and also for myself. Two trips to Tesco, two loads of washing, taking Mum to the bank to order her a debit card for her and Dad's joint account, popping into the chemist, phoning all the utility companies to set up direct debits for their quarterly bills, re-arranging my appointment with the financial adviser which should have been happening on Thursday, paying bills, helping prepare meals, drying the dishes..... We are all wilting on the sofa now!

We had a bit of a shock when the post arrived. Dad opened what he thought was just confirmation of his hospital appointment on Thursday with the chest clinic consultant, to find that he must also have a blood test done at the GP tomorrow ready for a detailed CT scan of his upper body on Friday. So we're now going to be busy right up to the end of the week. Although in one way it's alarming and worrying that Dad's case is being dealt with so urgently, it's also good to know that we should get a diagnosis quite quickly and know what he's up against, and why there's fluid on his lungs which has made him so frighteningly short of breath in recent weeks.

Alongside the more stressful parts of the day, we've managed to have lots of lighter moments today too, and we're currently enjoying the programme about cats on BBC2 (we are all cat lovers).

So, a day full of light and shade - which I've tried to convey in my blipfoto of one of the flowers I gave Mum on Saturday.
