Coniston Water

I'd resigned myself to running in the rain but the nearer we got to Coniston the brighter it got and the sun came out before we started. Unfortunately there was a heavy shower just after we started running and it continued all the way up the hill. But then it cleared and the sun came out again.
Hard work on the ups and rough tracks to run on and was pleased to finish about 12 mins under my target. Mr Rat also ran a good time but had a fall near the end and we spent the afternoon in A&E in Barrow! it was thought to be a displaced fracture of the little finger but was actually a dislocation, so much improved with some tugging.
A friend had come to meet us and it was a shame we couldn't spend as much time with her as planned but we didn't rush off to the hospital.
Our friend, Elaine, was running the longer race in the afternoon and came 3rd lady, we would have been back for the prize-giving if an emergency at the hospital hadn't delayed things.
