Rugby is more of a religion than a sport in this part of France. The ground became a cauldron of noise and clamour during the Perpignan v Mont-de-Marsan match. Perpignan won 25-21 in a brutal encounter which saw a sending off and two yellow cards. In the end Perpignan did well to hang on to victory having played all the second half with 13 or 14 men.
