Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Breakfast at the Beach

The outdoor cafe was void of patrons and we enjoyed it immensely. The sun on our backs and the ocean to our front was a wonderful experience in Laguna this morning. We love to dine as close to the water as possible.

The photo that Mr. Fun took reminded me of a month ago when we all were asked to do our blip-together and how difficult it was to come out from behind the business end of the camera and stand in front of the action end!

This morning the two of us were coming off of a lovely weekend and moving into an action-packed week, so a slow serene morning was the launching-pad we chose.

I spent entirely too much time the past few days on email with my students. The college issues each of them an email account, but most of them choose not to use it, but before the semester had begun the only way I can contact them is through the college assigned email accounts. So my email account now automatically sends to their campus email rather than the account they normally use. What a mess. I've spent too much time sorting that through. I think it is now organized.

Students were to send me several emails this past week telling me how they were doing with the assigned work, and most of them have corresponded with me. After reading Samiam's blip today I thought I'd display a couple of the student emails I received. Some so honest and refreshing, and one so rude. (I haven't changed a word or spelling on the 3 that follow.)

At first I thought there was no need to review this section becasue I felt comfortable enough with my ability to distinguish which words I can use during specific situations. But I went through it anyway and found many words that I was having trouble with. I'll list a few. I never know that prohesize wasn't a word, and had to use prophesy. Another, found out that I shouldn't use ''quotes'' sometimes and should instead use ''quotations''. I then ( then/than confuse me too) to capitalization. It was more of a helpful review to solidify some things already known. But, once again, I found things I didn't know. I'm not supposed to capitalize ''the'' in newspapers, and I need to capitalize names of relationships when their name is substituted. Finally, took the exercises in the text. And was happy to realize they were a breeze. Knowing this material helped save time in the end luckily.

Dear Carol, I really had my eyes opened up in regards to capitalization and confusing words. Words like effect or affect are affecting my ability to write correctly. Whether it is weather or whether can be confusing also. I struggled with whose and who's also. I did pretty well on capitalization in my workbook but missed a few on-line. The link to the grammar website will prove to be very helpful during this course. Thank You.

ok carol I got the email ... theres soo much things to do that Im starting to get confused. ok essay (check), book assignments(check) now wat else. every thing is coming so fast its starting to all sound like bluh bluh bluh so can you please slow or break this down its like your work it just running on and on over eachother. also if I rent the book can i photo copy the pages we have to write?

So this is going to be an interesting semester, don't you think?! This last Monday in February was beautiful weather. It was quite breezy here with the floaty pool toys sailing all throughout the yard numerous times today. ;-)

Have a great Tuesday.
Good night from southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
