Green Carpeted Hills
At about 4:00 this afternoon the 2 of us, oh yeah and Bob dog, took a drive to the south end of our community. After reading Deb's blip from yesterday, I wanted to go to the Trader Joe store in The Crossings Shopping Center about 5 miles from home.
When the foothills came into view and I detected a blip moment, I made the normal commotion -- scooting Bob dog from the middle of my lap so that I could get to my purse to find my point & shoot. Those hills are green for such a limited number of days each year and I think they are so beautiful that I wanted to capture them, but really didn't figure that I could.
When I was young and still living at home with my mom and stepdad, my real dad would drive east from Los Angeles, stop to get me and my sister and then we'd drive south on old Highway 395 to Grammie Teele's house and in the winter the hills looked carpeted in green. This afternoon those hills looked just like they did when I was younger.
Today the old highway no longer exists. It is now the 15 Freeway that leads south through the communities of Lake Elsinore, Temecula, Escondido, and on to San Diego, but it was as spectacular as I have ever seen, and most of the traffic was going in the other direction.
It's been a good day. After church we arrived home, ate lunch, and then Mr. Fun napped and watched the NASCAR race that was happening about 15 miles from here at Fontana Raceway. How he naps and watches simultaneously is beyond me. I went upstairs to do something productive--pay some bills and do paperwork in the office.
I hope everyone has a wonderfully fulfilling week.
Good night from a rainy Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
