Bacon butties and bonfires

Brrrrrr sure felt like Autumn today! I took a stroll up my road this morning to get a paper and there was a Saturday smell of bacon butties and allotment bonfires in the air. Did I mention I love this time of year? Secretly enjoyed getting my new boots (pictured) out and stomping through the leaves too.

Audrey had woken me up at 6.30am coughing and seemed ready to get up. I was desperately trying to keep her quiet as her Dad (who got in late after entertaining Robin Van Persie at his restaurant - rather amusing story but not for blip sadly!) was sleeping. Audrey and I stayed in bed whispering until a more appropriate hour while he slept in the spare room next door.

We had a family breakfast of croissants and pain chocolat which should have been idyllic yet descended into Audrey's biggest tantrum to date. Angus was telling me his RVP story and as Audrey wasn't getting any attention she threw a massive paddy upturning drinks and food on the table and throwing things on the floor. She was swiftly taken to her room and told this was unacceptable.

Probably the harshest we've had to be with her to date but there had to be consequences. She cried for a while and I went back to see her and asked her if she understood why she had been naughty. She nodded feeling sorry for herself and said "No throw toast. It's dangerous". Mmmmm not quite but it'll do.

She refused a nap despite being tired so I bundled her in the car up to Mum and Dad's this afternoon. My cousin Kee was visiting with her two daughters (one is only four months old and was adorable!!!!!) so it was lovely to see them all. Audrey hated her Grandad playing with someone else and her Mum cuddling a newborn baby though. She got really jealous and was quite put out. Dad managed to bring her out of it and before we knew it, they were all running round the house playing a rowdy game of hide and seek.

The Moon was high in the sky tonight and Audrey is mesmerised by it. After I'd bathed her and put her pyjamas, coat and wellies (!) on, Dad and I walked her out to the car and she stood transfixed looking up at the moon. She then wanted to see it all the way home in the car and wouldn't stop talking about it. To keep her awake, we sang songs. So much so that I have lost my voice now!
