Ask People What They Want/Need

and you will hear their responses. We held a community meeting this morning to get some feedback about our programs, services, etc. All too frequently outside people will come into a poor neighborhood and decide what the people there need. It works better the other way :-) This is one of 5 sheets from the meeting.

Many of our neighbors here are on the street or in shelters and you'll see one comment on this sheet about having to leave the shelter by 7am and not being able to return until 5pm. We're open 9-4 so there's an hour when they have no place to go, other than the public library, which isn't always to keen on homeless hanging out. We may be changing our hours.

You might also spot my name on the list, being noted as the local paparazzi :-) Here's a photo of the meeting. Everyone enjoyed being able to be heard and they all want to have these meetings once a month. Good idea. So cheers to getting people what they need and not what you think they need!
