The Thursday Run - Reflections

Each Thursday I deliver food and groceries to an elderly relative in Cowdenbeath, usually early in the morning. This morning I was so early that in this section of the High Street there was only one person - a window cleaner. It was of interest however to record the change having taken place over the 100 years or so that the buildings were erected. The stone built upper storeys indicate a wealthier commercial past than do the current shop frontages ---- a bookmaker, a charity shop, a pawnbroker, and hairdresser fill this small area--tidily presented and considerably more attractive than the boarded up and empty properties found in more 'significant' and larger towns.
But of course I was born here, walk tall here and see it all through rose coloured spectacles. Oops - omitted to mention the flower shop!
