Interior o an old traditional Thai house
What I like about Bangkok is that the most modern architecture coexists with some old traditional buildings or houses. Sometimes, as soon as you leave a main thoroughfare to enter a 'soi' (a side alley), you with to another era, from town to village life.
Today, I went to visit an accent teak house. lost into a lush, tropical garden and surrounded by some other modern constructions, it really seemed to be an outdated place.
This was the home of Khun (Thai for Mr) Kukrit Pramoj. He was a famous person in this country as he was of princely origin on his father's side. At an early age, he was sent to study in England and eventually graduated from Oxford. When he came back, he later became Thailand's 13th Premier. But he was a scholar as well as his residence reveals it.
I thought it would be interesting to show how the interior of a wealthy Thai family looked like. This is not a museum. It is the home of Khun Kukrit, which has remained the way it was when he died at the age of 86.
