Thoughts of a Mummy

Twins again...

We didn't have the best of starts to the day with the girls. DM had stayed in bed this morning while everyone else got up, little did we know that she had sneakily got her iPod and was playing on it under her covers. When I asked for it, she huffed into a grump and reluctantly gave it to me. She then decided to see what Aj, R&P were quietly doing together. 5 minutes later I could hear Rubels shouting "I can do it, I want to do it!" at DM. I went in to find DM helping interfering while Rubels was putting her pens away. After having to literally pick DM up and move her into another room, DM declared "I'm not going to school, it's not fair, I'm staying at home all day and I'm not doing what I'm told". My response; two items went into the naughty cupboard - her iPod and a cuddly toy. After she had calmed down, DM was still insistent that she wasn't going to school, at which point I told her that was her decision, but I need a good reason from her, so that I can call her school to let them know. As DM couldn't think f a good enough reason, she finally got dressed!

DM was the first dressed, then came downstairs and made everyone breakfast, including pouring the cereal in the bowls and giving the correct milk to us all. Such a dramatic difference from the girl of only 20 minutes ago!!

However, the next shouting I hear was Rubels. She was not happy the DM hadn't given her a full bowl of cereal (it was just over half way). I chose to ignore Rubels and concentrate on the kind gesture of DM having made us all breakfast. After a few minutes of us all eating our breakfast (and me being over the top complimentary towards DM for being so helpful), Rubels finally caved in and ate her breakfast.

I got the girls to school, had a couple of errands to do and then went to 360 with Aj, my friend and her daughter. We had such a lovely time together; my friend and I were able to chat whilst our daughters played together. They had so much fun together and on many occasions, it felt like having twins again. They followed each other around, tag teamed each other on jumping on/off things and generally played together happily.

When we left to go home, Aj had a sulk and wouldn't talk to her friend. My friend and I were giggling in the front of the car, as her daughter was trying to chat with Aj, but Aj was in a real grump and just stared out of the window.

Aj and I then went to Dolly's Tea Shoppe in Hinckley for a delicious afternoon tea. It was a gift from us to my bestie for her birthday. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with tasty homemade sandwiches and fabulously delicious cakes. The setting of the tea shoppe is perfect and the decorations and ambience offer a great environment to their customers.

I did some reading with Rubels when she got home and then an evening of updating our Twins at Totstime Facebook Page.

All in all a good and productive day :)
