Between fen and mountains

The weather stayed fine so the walk was on. I saw the man from the Water Board before leaving and further tests revealed that the water in the garage is from natural ground water so the Mairie will now have to investigate the town irrigation channels. They will turn them off for a few days to see if that improves matters. The walk was to a local peak at around 2100 metres with lovely expansive views. We also came upon a few of the very large, impressive bugs that live up there and saw a few vultures. More photos can be seen here.
I got back just in time to see the afternoon showing of Gemma Bovery, a lighthearted and entertaining reworking of the Flaubert novel involving an English couple recently moved to Normandy, whose lives, in the over imaginative mind of the local baker, bear a close resemblance to those lived by the characters in the book. Comic misunderstandings ensue!
