No tickets for us, but a subscription purchased to the channel where we could see the action at Gleneagles. Scotland has been looking forward to "welcoming the world" for some years now - at least so the tourism strategists tell us.

45,000 people crammed round the course from early morning, and gazillions more watching on TV. Around the requirements of the family for feeding and watering, and occasional transportation, I managed to see the majority of the day's events, and really enjoyed seeing Europe win. It's made me think that I'm already looking forward to next year's Open Golf at St Andrews.
