9 day wonder
At the cottage today, changing over after the departure of our first guests from Beijing. A delightful family. Returning to Edinburgh to visit as the father of the group had spent a year here at University.
Our next guests were due to arrive early from Phoenix, Arizona - we're a positive magnet for people coming from around the globe this year.
On arrival at the cottage I'd noticed that the Canongate was closed (the bottom part of the Royal Mile), and there was quite a noise coming from that direction, so once I'd got the cottage put to rights, I headed out to see what was happening. There was a rally to the side of the Parliament building, and a sizeable crowd of saltire-waving people had gathered to hear speeches.
Nine days since the Referendum, and many people are actively encouraging the continuation of the discussion on where our country goes next. It won't just be left to the elected politicians to get on with.
It was Doors Open Day, and I'd love to have gone wandering around our old buildings in the city centre, but after the changeover I felt like doing nothing more than heading home and curling up with a book while the washing washed.
