Sailboats on the Lake

backblips continue....

I think you can rent pretty much any type of water thing you can think of here! Jet skis, boats, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards etc... you can even do Aqua Flights which allows you to "fly" above the water being propelled by jets of water. It looked pretty fun but not sure I'm up to trying it :) There is a neat village with tons of shops, restaurants and such. Very cute! Lots of hiking trails. They say it is four seasons of fun as each season brings its uniqueness to the area. It is the main snow ski area for Southern California.

Oh, and if you look at my photo to the far left you will see a dome building. That is Big Bear Lake Solar Observatory. It is quite interesting to read about. It was redone several years ago and now houses the largest clear aperture solar telescope in the world. Once the Advanced Technology Solar Telescope is completed on Haleakala in Hawaii, that will be the largest telescope and Big Bear will be the second. Kind of cool.
