Solace Day 13: Blue Streak!
One of the highlights of our trips on Solace is seeing the Kingfishers as we travel along the canals. Generally all we see is the flash of blue as it zooms along the canal in front of us. We carefully note where it landed but always they manage to sneak away without us seeing them. Occasionally (very occasionally) one sits still long enough for a distant shot.
This is a heavy crop of my only kingfisher capture of the holiday. Perhaps it was due to the fact this was beside a lovely canal side recreation area at Baswich that had accustomed her to noise and movement. As I mentioned yesterday I don't have much luck with moving targets so I am quite proud to have caught her before she was out of the view finder. Clickychick was luckier and caught her before she flew, her shot (also cropped)is here.
Having some time before we needed to be back at the marina on Thursday we turned down the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal and through Tixel Wide. If we hadn't we wouldn't have had this good view of the Kingfisher. We moored for the night just above Deptmore Lock.
