Ike Cadets

I coached high school volleyball for 20 years at Eisenhower High School in Yakima before I retired at the end of the 2009 season. The gym in which I spent so many afternoons and evenings has since been replaced by a state of the art gym (as has the entire school) and today we visited for the first time in five years. What a difference! There is so much space, everything is sparkling clean, and all the lights work. My old head coach is still running practices and producing winning teams. It was great to see him (back to the camera) and watch his latest team practice the same skills I used to teach my kids. Would have been fun to stay for the entire practice, but our time in Yakima is running out and there is still much to do. Maybe next trip.
