Ryder Cup Mayhem
I had a fabulous first day at the Ryder Cup, despite no cameras allowed on the course. So my ipad mini and iphone had to do the job.
The atmosphere was electric throughout the day with some amazing golf, characters and costumes. This is a group from Sheffield that I caught up with near the 18th green. They were having some fun with the local bobbies (police).
That atmosphere continued throughout the first day, although there were a few incidents across Gleneagles that left the players frustrated. An American woman greenside on the 8th hole picked up Bubba Watson’s ball and tried to put it in her pocket before lots of golf fans screamed "NO!” prompted her to drop the ball and rush off giggling (luckily Bubba was oblivious to this).
USA took the advantage in the morning, but the European team stormed back in the afternoon play, taking three of the four matches to hold an overall lead at the Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course.
Europe leads the United States 5-3 after the first day of competition.
