Reading Matter

I forgot to take any photos today.

So I'm sitting here in bed (at 9:15 - rock and roll!) and looked over to the drop-side cot to my left. It's currently empty of the small child (who is still asleep in his own bed, though probably not for long) and the reading matter stacked up there made me laugh:

My newest cookbook, the amusingly named 'Mincespiration' picked up for a song in The Works sale. Sounds daft but is actually full of great sounding recipes.

My library book, The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling. A light and enjoyable read, not too taxing but full of wittily portrayed characters.

Ted's selection of Julia Donaldson/Nick Sharratt books, of which One Mole Digging a Hole is my (and his) favourite.

Something for everyone there!

In other news, I ran 10k for the first time ever today! Admittedly it wasn't really intentional as a friend and I set off on what we thought would be a 6k run. It was a new route and we, er, got a little lost..! Not too lost, but doubling back on ourselves to correct our error added some extra distance, plus it was a longer route than we'd anticipated. By the time we were running back into the village my phone app was telling us we'd done 8.5k so at that, our second wind kicked in and we reckoned we could make it up to 10 by doing a little detour. I'm aching a bit now and ate a massive supper to make up those lost calories (oops!), hence my early night!
