Between fen and mountains

Hanging out

Whether it be for washing or grapes, balconies are useful. These ones have no view except across the street to a wall or a curtained window but at least they provide a tiny portion of outside space and that is the best that can be managed for most of the houses in the old village. People these days expect more, so these houses are more difficult to sell and worth a fraction of the modern houses outside the village on the valley floor with their individual plots of land and mod cons. Still, they are inexpensive and have a certain charm and, when modernised a little, make a good holiday home purchase for French or foreign visitors.
