Between fen and mountains

Thwarted

I went up to a high village to start a walk today. I had been offered a lift but I rather unnecessarily took my car so I had the option of returning earlier if needed. I did not take the little car as Mrs TT wanted it. When I parked, someone had left an trailer with the hitch on the road with a pointed spike sticking up. I touched it and there was a loud hiss and an explosion of dust. The tyre was wrecked but there is no spare. The silly puncture kit is useless if the tyre wall is split open. That is a fair measure of bad luck for one day. The Jaguar Assistance people were great and had someone up this very remote road within an hour. The garagist decided he could not tow the vehicle down off the mountain with his 4x4 towing truck as the bends were too tight. He went off again all the way to Perpignan and arrived back three hours later with this flat bed lorry. He managed to get the car off the mountain and I should have it back with two new tyres fitted on Friday. I have been offered a car by Jaguar in the meantime. It was great service and all that I have suffered is an excellent walk missed and a hole in the pocket. I did have the company of one of the walkers who had developed a bad knee and joined me for the wait and I got a lift home. Much worse troubles at sea!
