Bugged By Faces

I think this is a mid stage instar of a hawthorn shieldbug. I've chosen to post it as, to me, it looks a bit like an aboriginal mask. Classic pareidolia. :) The bramble thorns and the reference to blood in the bug's scientific name add to the spookiness I think.
