Back Blip

We visited Checkpoint Charlie and some sections of the Berlin Wall today. Another sobering visit and another sign of total failure of a totalitarian regime. In business we say a leader has lost it when his or her people stop coming to them, when a country's people are fleeing across the border in such numbers that you have to put a wall up to keep them in, then that is a total breakdown.

For over twenty-five years from 1961 to 1989, many thousands will have looked up at this unscalable wall with a deep longing to go over the top. Hard to believe that November will mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of it coming down.
