Day 38: Our House On Stilts

Getting to Koh Phangan from Phuket was another adventure in taxis, busses, and catamarans. I will have to add up all the miles I've traveled on this trip. Too bad I can't collect mileage points on the road or on sea. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by our bungalow retreat, perched high on stilts. A nice little upgrade, thanks!

Koh Phangan is one of many islands, sister to the popular resort island, Koh Samui or Koh Tao. This island's claim to fame, though, is the monthly after hours beach drunkfest that draws thousands of party-goers, scantily clad in fluorescent beach attire and wearing glow in the dark paint. Actually, they'll make up any reason to party. Apparently there's even a Half Moon Party. And a Jungle Party. And a Waterfall Party...

Tonight, though, we just take a quiet stroll thru the night market. It's like the calm before the storm. I'm kind of afraid what tomorrow will bring :)
