Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
It was very autumnal at the nature reserve this morning. Mist hung in the valley for hours, turning the woods into a monochrome experience and making the vegetation (and trousers) sodden. Sounds were muffled, herbs and earthy smells were heightened and new fungi had arisen from the earth and dead wood overnight. There is another of those great seasonal changes starting.
