A September Day
The title of this painting ("A September Day") seemed appropriate, although the weather hasn't been quite as sunny today. Luke was rowing early this morning, so I had some time in the town to visit friends, shops, bank and then the Gracefield Art Gallery. First a visit to see the exhibition by Dan Flavin, whose work is all made from fluorescent tubes. It takes up a huge space in the gallery because only one or two works can be exhibited per room, extra panels have to be put in to hide electric cables, and everything painted white for maximum lighting effects. I took some photos but they didn't do justice to the work.
The September painting was on show upstairs. It's by George Henry, who worked with the Glasgow Boys.
