Back doon on the Water
Derwentwater holds a special place for me as I have spent many a happy hour or two either paddling, sailing or swimming in it!
My first memories of the place were way back in the early 80's when I went to an adventure holiday for young folk that was based just outside Keswick in a wee village called Braithwaite.
I later went back as one of the leaders of those holidays which by this time had moved up to a fab place in the village of Bassenthwaite and I spent many happy years in my twenties taking kids out in canoes and sailing boats - getting them soaked and generally having a brilliant time on - and in!! - the water.
And so with the Sun still shining, I decided it was now time to hire a double Kayak and a Canadian canoe and venture back out on the water with my family and a fab time was had by all. Clare and myself were in the Canadian - though for this picture we swapped with the boys and they captured us in the Kayak.
Off out to St Herberts Island and then over to Hawes End for a spot of Jetty Jumping!! Happy Days!
Then as our time was coming to an end it was back round to Nichol End to finish of our wee adventure. Tired but happy boys and with the cry of "can we do that again??", I'm sure we will be back again soon!!
