The Singing Sewing Club

Nine years ago, on the first afternoon in Mandimba we were asked to help with a sewing club - for the empowerment of women. We have helped with machines, materials and tuition.

The group are waiting to move into a dedicated 'sewing house' (largely financed buy St Mary's) until then they are using one manual machine. But even so they are now turning a profit - the original concept.

Until then, one of them works on the machine and the others sing (and one knits!)
