Another Brise Soleil...

Yet another picture of yet another of Manchester's new builds with a brise soleil. This one is on a little office block that has gone up on a tiny patch of land on Hardman Street, just off Deansgate. The entire building has been let to one media company that wants a presence in the city not too far from Media City and closes to all the nice restaurants and bars. So important in that line of business I'm assured.

I think this brise soleil will have been useful in all the warm, September sunshine we've been having. And it will shelter the offices from the glare and heat created by all the glass in the buildings around Spinningfields as it bounces around. I was walking along Deansgate last January and got caught in a pool of sunshine created by the curve of the RSB building. I felt like an insect under the magnifying glass of a particularly nasty child.

I likes this picture with the Hilton Tower in the distance and the contrast between the modernity of the brise soleil and the Art Deco of Sunlight House. And the softness of the leaves contrasts well with the straight lines of this very urban scene. I've gone all arty there in my description...
