Fleeing ducks.

Our walking group went on a big walk through native bush today and came out of the bush near a fast flowing stream. We saw a Paradise drake running away with an apparent broken wing! What he was doing was trying to attract us away from the pictured Paradise duck with her fluffy little ducklings trying to swim upstream.The Paradise drake is a dull black colour whereas the duck is a more colourful brown and white..... it is quite unusual for a female bird to be more colourful than the male.
