"Kowhai is yellow."

In New Zealand schools the children learn the Maori words for the colours with the help of a very catchy song. The first line tells us that "kowhai is yellow". My pic is of kowhai flowers and,for obvious reasons , kowhai is also the name of this native tree which has these amazing yellow flowers in the spring.This particular tree was a mass of flowers and was attracting a lot of bees. The strong sweet scent of the pollen was obvious to me as I approached. Kowhai are often found near the banks of rivers and in coastal areas.Because of the pretty flowers and their pollen they are well liked by all of us.
