An Emergency Blip.....literally

Had a call from our daughter this morning expressing concern that a damp patch in the dining room ceiling had turned into water running out of a light fitting and dripping all over the floor!

Cue loading toolbox into car (along with our Sunday Lunch makings) and making headlong dash for Doncaster.

Lifted floorboards had not revealed the source of the leak - and when we arrived I could not see where the water was coming from.

Checks in loft showed no water ingress from boiler or from roof so I started sticking my arm into joist cavity and found a large puddle of water.

I pulled a small section of ceiling down - and finished up with water down my neck! Eventually found a small leak in a pipe - literally a drip! However it must have been going for a very long time because all the plaster was wet and mildewed.

I finished up having to pull down about 2 sq m of ceiling to get back to dry and clean plaster board.

Bucket installed under drip and plumber on the way tomorrow. It will take a while to dry out I guess - and then need to find a plasterer!

A positive note to add - when we arrived our granddaughter was asleep so we sent our daughter and husband out for lunch - their first time alone in 3 months and our first official baby sitting duty! Yay!
