Aftermath

The kids and I had the day off from work and school today. Ben didn't, but is fortunate to have a great, flexible job and employer, and he was able to telecommute, as we were expecting a midday visit from some out-of-town family who were passing through town.

After a morning of me trying to keep the kids somewhat quiet and get a few chores done, we needed to get out of the house. I was pondering a trip to the park to ride bikes when my phone rang, and our fabulous neighbors, A's best friend's family, called to say they were headed out to ride bikes and did we want to join? Perfect! So we two moms trekked the 6-year-old girls, A and H, and the little brothers (C, who just turned 4, and E, who is about to do the same) up to the school for a couple hours' of bike and scooter riding. It was a great way to get some vitamin D and some fresh air and we all had a nice time!

When we arrived home, we only had time for a quick snack before our visitors showed up. They stayed just over an hour, but it was great to see them, and the kids had fun playing with their cousins while the grown-ups chatted.

We had a nice family dinner and then spent the rest of the evening immersed in artwork. The kids each made several paintings to add to our wall of artwork! When I was cleaning up, I liked how all of the bright colors and brushes looked on the palette, so I snapped a quick blip.

Back to the routine tomorrow - I think we're refreshed and ready! Hooray for extended weekends!
